Nature Journaling in Currumbin Valley

A few weeks ago I visited Currumbin Valley in the Gold Coast Hinterland, Queensland which is one of the most beautiful places I have been to. The drive through the valley was stunning with canopies of green trees over-hanging the narrow roadway which wound its way past homesteads, scattered along this scenic drive. It was a beautiful sunny Sunday morning with hardly any other traffic on this secluded twisty road. I had my binoculContinue

Hi Lesley

Thank you for your kind comments. I use pastel pencils for all my work now with the addition of soft pastels for background work, this is how I acheive the impressionistic background effects. All the videos I have made are designed to teach fellow artists how to use the pastel pencil medium.
Thank you for the lead for this site I hopw that it will inspire others to have a go at the medium.
Best regards Colin.

Hi Lesley, The site looks great and thank you for asking me to be a memter. The video was originally produced as a promotion to be used in galleries but the record company that gave me permission to use the beautiful piece of music said that they would like to put it on YouTube, which I was very pleased about. Sadly, it was only available in the UK for 3 weeks when a dispute arose between Google and PRS (the Performing Rights Society). The dispute meant that the majority of music videos were blocked from UK viewing and this dispute still continues. Luckily I now have my website and viewers in the UK can see the video again.......Jamie

Hi Lesley, thank you for your wonderful complement Painting and firing tile is unique learning experience in my point of veiw because uderglaze paint is a different color out of the bottle than it is once fired in a kiln I have to rely on color charts that i have pinned to the wall of my studio to see what the fired color of the particular shade that i am using will be and for mixing underglaze paint you have to have a pretty good base knowledge of tinting colors so painting with acrylics has helped me gain a base knowledge but it is always kinda touch and go and waiting to see what the finished mural fires out to be and this particular mural of the paint horses was a couple of weeks to complete but the one i am working on right now is 70 4 inch tiles and is a very complex turn of the 20th century street scene with antique cars horses and buggies ornate buildings it will take several months to complete and i will be posting on my website when finished.
