My Trip to the US Southwest
In early October, my husband and I embarked on a long-planned vacation to the Southwest. We took our little camper and drove and camped through 4700+ miles of great country - spending most of our time exploring the states of Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Utah. We stayed or visited 11 National Parks and Monuments, spent time in deserts, canyons, mountains, and sand dunes. Temps were as high as 90+˚ F , though mostly in the 70s, during the day and dropped below 20˚ several nights when we were camping in the high desert.
Didn't get much in the way of wildlife, but took over 2,000 photos (that's before I started the deleting process) so I have plenty of landscape shots. It's remarkable and diverse country, and it's easy to find the wilder spots no one seems to visit.
I'll post one photo right now - a shot of the Great Sand Dunes in southern Colorado. we climbed the 650 feet high dune early in the cold morning, before sunrise, as I wanted to catch the shadows mixing with the frosted sand. It happened to be one day past a full moon, so there was great lighting, and it was my 55th birthday so I felt doubly inspired. The blue shadows captured on the frosted dune were worth the effort.
We had a great trip - I'll post more as I get caught up with life back home.
