Hi everyone,
I've decided to take down my images for a while until I can properly watermark them. Unfortunately, art thieves think that they can take my work without crediting me or acknowledging me as the artist, so until then, I don't feel comfortable having myimages up whilst I am working to resolve this issue. I am sure you can understand.

This is another fantastic option to
sell your work online which I have just discovered and it is probably better than
ShopIt in some ways because you have more postage options and you can charge a local and international fee plus offer postage discounts if the customer purchases several items in the one order.
There are two shop options available:
free basic shop and the
verified full feature shop ($12 per month). The feel and layout is similar t…

If you are interested in selling your work on this site, the easiest way by far is to use the
shopit application which is
FREE.
1. You need to register then set up your store first on
Shopit. Add your products, prices and shipping charge.
Disadvantage: You can charge a different shipping fee for each item but only a flat shipping fee is available whether you are sending it locally or internationally.…

I have just heard that my photograph "Lean on Me" of a pair of rainbow lorikeets was selected as "highly commended" in the Wildlife Portraits competition run by Will Burrard-Lucas and his younger brother Matthew. Here is the article from Burrard-Lucas Blog site

It’s been quite a while since I last updated properly, due to a couple of reasons. Uni assignments and exams are building, and sadly I’ve had not much time to create many artworks of late. Secondly, what time I have had has been spent completing the illustrations for ‘The Voyage‘ - the debut poetry chapbook, by Brisbane poet Zenobia Frost - which has been a delightfully imaginative project.
This has been my first, published illustration project, and I am grateful I was granted full creative fre…

A few weeks ago I visited Currumbin Valley in the Gold Coast Hinterland, Queensland which is one of the most beautiful places I have been to. The drive through the valley was stunning with canopies of green trees over-hanging the narrow roadway which wound its way past homesteads, scattered along this scenic drive. It was a beautiful sunny Sunday morning with hardly any other traffic on this secluded twisty road. I had my binocul…

I will be changing my alias to Faelenath, as this is the name I am most used to and use on other websites / blogs. :) Almarea is sadly a name I have grown distant from. :(

I entered my photograph
“Lean on Me” into the 2009
International Garden Photographer of the Year which is based in the UK. I have just received notification that I have made it to the second round and I am thrilled.

The judges will select around 100 finalists whose photographs will be printed…

In early September I wrote in my
blog that I set up a stall for the very first time with my photographic products at the
Wildlife Festival 2008 in Beaudesert. I also submitted one of my photographs of a pair of rainbow lorikeets called
"Lean on Me" to the photo…

I've just uploaded 5 new drawings (1 is a new revision actually.) During the month I was hired by Scholastic Books to create an image of butterflies for a children's puzzle. The deadline was tough and it happened to be over a weekend I was out of town visiting the
Lost Coast.
But I had a couple mornings/evenings to get it done, and I did. Afterwards I cranked out a Tule Elk and Marine Iguana drawings - two animals I…

I recently went to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary with some of my art students and I adore this place. It was the perfect time of year to see all the new born animals and hatchlings and the students were given an educational talk and had the opportunity to draw some live Australian wildlife. I was in my element as well, of course, taking lots of photographs throughout the day.…

Ages ago, I watched an amazing artist use pastels. He used a different ground to me and painted very differently. When I switched to the same type of ground, my artwork suddenly took on a different life! It actually looked much more alive rather than a flat and hopeless collection of strokes and smudges on paper. I was very grateful for his help. Suddenly, I did not feel quite so hopeless and it inspired me to try harder and keep going.
Sometimes, we can struggle or get frustrated with our use…

I have decided that the majority of major art prizes for figurative and contemporary work in the UK are just a lot of rubbish. How can someone win one of the major prizes in the UK for figurative work, without actually managing to paint a person? Absolutely nuts!
It seems very easy for people to criticise wildlife art. You either paint well, or you are learning to do that. A lion either looks realistic and ready to eat you up or not, and if you are good, then perhaps you can sell work because p…

Well here I am friends, and thought that I would have a quick waffle... read if it entertains?...
I have decided to try and get my work out into the local area. I managed to find a privately owned gallery in the city centre, and they will hire a secondary room out so I need another twenty paintings! HAR!!! Not impossible I know, but it is getting harder to take photographs etc and a whole pile of other things.
I have been working hard lately on trying to improve my technique in oils. I have re…

Well, I think we are having an early summer in Queensland, Australia as the temperatures have been reaching 30 degrees centigrade already and it is hot and sticky. Whilst this can be uncomfortable for us humans, the hot summer weather brings about gorgeous…

I just got these photos a while ago. The public relations rep for this chapter of the Girls Scouts contacted me asking to use my image for the signs. Actually, they asked for a discount over my normal price but I could hardly charge the Girl Scouts, who were helping to restore the park. The signs were part of the project and there was a ribbon cutting ceremony:

Hello,
Well, I've been told I should be blogging about my illustration work so this seems like a good opportunity to do so.
I'd like to thank Lesley for setting up what is a very clever and fun website! Well done. I look forward to being an active member.
While I've been illustrating for some time, I've only gotten serious about in the last few years. In this time I've sold many prints and have put a couple book under my belt:…
